About Us
Taylored Accessibility Inc. is a multi-faceted accessibility agency based in Calgary, dedicated to eliminating barriers and creating inclusive environments for all to live and thrive with equal opportunity. As many of our basic building codes do not provide meaningful access, and legislation from all levels of government is constantly evolving, much confusion is created in doing what is right. We continuously conduct research of the latest developments in universal access and inclusion to ensure we are delivering the most up-to-date, reliable information. As highly knowledgeable professionals in the field, Taylored Accessibility is your go-to source for all of your projects to address physical, systemic, informational, and attitudinal barriers.
Ron Taylor has accumulated over 30 years’ worth of practical and theoretical knowledge in the commercial, residential, and institutional construction industry as a skilled tradesperson. Throughout his career, he has earned additional certifications in accessibility assessments, design, engineering, leadership, and change management. As a volunteer, Ron is committed to giving back to the community. He has been engaged as the chair of a poverty reduction policy committee, an advocate for persons with disabilities, and an active voice for inclusivity. Through ongoing advocacy and his career, Ron strives to make universal design the “new normal”.
Christina Ryan has over 17 years of experience as a photojournalist and communications professional. In 2017, her documentary highlighting persons with disabilities won an award from the International News Media Association. She is an instructor with Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), teaching and developing content for numerous courses, including brand journalism. With 19 years of experience advocating for persons with disability, she provides lectures and seminars to companies and municipal corporations to better their understanding of trends in universal accessibility. Through her volunteer work, Christina ensures that persons with disabilities have access to inclusive opportunities.
Ron and Christina’s lives are enriched with three beautiful daughters, one of which was born with complex medical needs and requires a wheelchair for mobility. The challenges of navigating a person with disabilities through our built environment has provided a lived experience that has not only highlighted a need but has also engrained a passion to bring down barriers. Because of the daily challenges presented by these circumstances, advocacy has become a way of life as Ron and Christina work toward their vision of an inclusive society for all to live and thrive with equitable opportunity.
